Saranac Lake, NY (January 13, 2025) – Get ready, folks, the North Country Sports Council is excited to announce Get ready, folks! Jamaica Bobsleigh is back in the Adirondacks, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome them “home.” As they gear up for an exciting season ahead, this dynamic team is ready to bring their infectious energy and “decidedly different” spirit to the mountains once again.

Brillion, WI – 12/03/2024– The North Country Sports Council is excited to announce that Ariens Nordic Center has been awarded the bid to host the 2025 World Snowshoe Championships, US Snowshoe Championships and Open Championships from February 27–March 2, 2025. These prestigious events will showcase elite athletes and celebrate the spirit of community and outdoor recreation in Wisconsin’s scenic winter landscape.

   Saranac Lake, NY - (November 5, 2024) The goal posts are down, equipment stored away waiting for next year and  the lines have faded from the 50th annual Can-Am Rugby Tournament. This  summer’s event was the largest and one of the most successful events we  have ever hosted.  

  Saranac Lake, NY - (March 20, 2024) The North Country Sports Council, in collaboration with Hydro Quebec and the Hotel Saranac, is bringing youth from South Queens, New York to the North Country. From March 22nd to 24th, 2024, these young explorers will embark on a transformative experience as they shadow the Jamaican Bobsled team. 

 Saranac Lake, NY - (February 20, 2024) - The North Country Sports Council is thrilled to announce its partnership with Can-Am Rugby, a historic organization formed by the Mountaineers Rugby team; that has been an integral part of the North Country sports scene for the past fifty years. This collaboration aims to ensure the growth and sustainability of Can-Am Rugby for another half-century.

   Saranac Lake, NY - (February 14, 2024) The East Coast Ski Conference (ECSC) Regional Championships are set to take place this Saturday and Sunday at Dewey Mountain. This highly anticipated event brings together 16 college ski teams from across the northeast US, competing for a chance to qualify for the USCSA National Championships. Colleges participating include Paul Smith's College, Clarkson University, Cornell, Middlebury, Dartmouth, UVM, University of Maine Farmington, and several other varsity and club programs.

  Saranac Lake, NY - (February 8, 2024) The North Country Sports Council (NCSC) is thrilled to announce its partnership with the iconic Jamaica Bobsled team as they join forces to transform the historic Hotel Saranac into the new home away from home for these remarkable athletes. This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter for both organizations as they strive to create a training haven for the Jamaica Bobsled team.

Jan. 31, 2024 – Saranac Lake, N.Y. – The famous Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is back for another year, bringing 10 days of action-packed family fun and winter sports to the Adirondacks. For over a century, the cherished tradition has captivated hearts of locals and visitors to revel in the event’s majesty, embrace community, and enjoy a shared love for the season and all things which can only be experienced in winter.

  SARANAC LAKE, NEW YORK (October 17, 2023) – A few North Country natives have decided to embrace the area that means so much to them and launch a new Sports and Entertainment Council. The not-for-profit charitable organization, the North Country Sports Council, officially launched on October 16, 2023 - an altruistic venture dedicated to leveraging the transformative power of sports, events, and entertainment. Their ambitious goal is to ignite economic prosperity by attracting and nurturing a vibrant array of events, ultimately enhancing the lives of the community and propelling the North Country brand to unparalleled heights.
